Nature In Watercolor

Paintings by Sandy Kay Hunter

My painting career began in 1982. I had always been interested in art and decided

to take a painting class after attending a local art festival. Although I have not had

any formal training ; I have gained knowledge and experience through the

workshops that I have taken, books, videos and simple observation.

I have shown my work at various art festivals in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Texas,

Colorado, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Louisiana and galleries in Topeka and Lawrence Kansas.

The majority of my work is watercolor but I also dabble in acrylics. I like to try

different techniques such as watercolor batik, inks, rice paper, pouring and

spattering paint, stamping and whatever comes to mind.

Some of my favorite subjects are landscapes, wildlife, florals, birds, barns, portraits

and some abstracts . I also do commissions.

I live in rural Kansas with my husband and many pets and am inspired by the

countryside and wildlife that surrounds us.
